Anyone can be affected by a mental health condition either themselves or a family member, friend or colleague.
It is reported that this year 1 in 4 of us will suffer from mental health. This e-learning First Aid for Mental Health (FAMH) course is designed for those who want to know how to provide support to someone who is in crisis. It provides learners with an understanding of mental health which helps break down the associated stigma.
The course develops the knowledge to recognise someone who may need help and how to start a supportive conversation, before signposting them to professional help. The course also looks at how supporting someone can affect our own wellbeing as well as the impact of using drugs and alcohol to reduce the feelings associated with mental health.
This course provides the knowledge of how to provide support, but not the opportunity to practise the skills. You develop your skills through our face to face or distance learning courses. Take a look at our unnacredited or accredited course options.
