FAW Scheduled Course Overview
This three-day First Aid at Work (FAW) course provides learners with comprehensive skills to deal with common first aid injuries at work and to keep someone safe until the emergency services arrive. The course covers lifesaving skills required, including scene management, the unconscious patient, major bleeds, fracturs and common medical conditions.

The course is made up of practical and theoretical sessions which include a range of topics are covered including:
- Responsibilities and the law
- Incident reporting
- Assessing the situation
- Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- Blood loss and shock
- Eye injuries
- Sprains and strains
- Fractures and spinal trauma
- Head injuries
- Chest injuries
- Heart attacks
- Diabetes (hypo/hyperglycaemia)

Sucessful candidates will be issued with an Ofqual regulated Level 3 First Aid at Work by the awarding body First Aid Awards (FAA).
The qualification lasts for three years and can be renewed by sitting a Level 3 First Aid at Work Requalification before the qualifications expires or within one month. Please see Level 3 First Aid at Work Requalification for exact details.
It is recommended to complete Continual Professional Development on a yearly basis to maintain practical skills and keep information at the forefront.
There will be three planned breaks per day. There will be tea and coffee available during the morning and afternoon break, but lunch is not included.
