This one-day Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course provides learners with the skills to keep someone safe until the emergency services arrive. The course covers basic life saving skills required, including assessing the scene, the unconscious patient and major bleeds.
The course is appropriate to low risk workplaces and small sites, where a first aid needs risk assessment has identified a need for Emergency First Aiders. The course is made up of practical and theoretical sessions which include a range of topics are covered including:
- Your responsibilities
- Accident reporting
- Assessing the situation
- First Aid hygiene
- Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- Minor injuries
- Bleeding and shock

Sucessful candidates will be issued with an Ofqual regulated Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work by the awarding body First Aid Awards.
The qualification lasts for three years and can be renewed by resitting the qualification.
It is recommended to complete Continual Professional Development on a yearly basis to maintain practical skills and keep information at the forefront.
The course will have three planned breaks per day, with tea, coffee and snacks provided during the morning and afternoon breaks. There will be no lunch provided and it is recommended that you bring lunch with you.
